Music Ministries
Make a joyful noise to the Lord! Lots of musical things are
happening in the life of St. John's. Here is a list of the opportunities
in St. John's exciting music ministry.

St. John's UMC offers a weath of family music on Sunday afternoons.

Chancel Choir
Rehearsals: Wednesdays at 6:30 PM in the Choir Hall
The Chancel Choir is the Worship Choir primarily for the 11:00 Service. But on High Holy days and festive Sundays, they sing both the 8:30 and 11:00 services. They sing mostly classical music and spirituals for our Traditional service. They also sing large works at Christmas and Easter with the Santa Fe Community Orchestra. Membership in this group of dedicated singers is obtained by attending rehearsal and services on a regular basis. For more information, call Kevin Calloway at Extension 116.
Choral Ambassadors for Christ (Youth Choir)
Rehearsals: Sundays at 3:30 PM in the Choir Hall
This Choir is the Youth Choir Grades 6-12. They are the primary
choir for the 8:30 service singing Contempory, Light classical,
and gospel music for our Blended Worship service. Membership
in this group is acquired by attending rehearsals and worship
services on a regular basis. For more information, contact Kevin

Scola Cantorum
Rehearsals: Sundays at 4:30 PM
Boys in
the Choir Hall, and Girls in the Chapel
A choir school for children from the First Grade to the 6th
Grade — the Program is fashioned like the Royal school
of Church Music in England. Children are taught not only good
singing technique, but Theory and the history of church music
and the hymns we sing. They
will be involved in leading worship approximately 2 times a month
along with the adult choir. They will also learn how to be worship
assistants. For more information and to set up an audition interview,

Cherub Choir
Rehearsals: Sunday mornings from 9:30 – 10:00
am in room SB5
Cherub Choir is for PreK4.
Cherub Choir is for PreK4 through 2nd grade. This class focuses
on pitch matching, beat competency and beginning musical literacy
through singing games, movement and instrument exploration.
W.O.W. Ensemble (Wonders of Worship)
Rehearsals: Sunday evenings from 5:00
- 6:00 in room SB5
This ensemble is for 3rd – 6th graders.
They will learn to use hand bells, Orff instruments, movement,
drama, vocal and visual arts to enhance the worship experience.
They will learn about the liturgical calendar and the scriptural
basis for their musical pieces.
Family Music
Family
Music brings families with infants, toddlers
and preschoolers together in exciting 30 minute classes. One
class is being offered this spring.
- Wednesday nights from 6:00-6:30, children ages 2-7 with their
caregivers come together to learn and sing about their favorite
Bible stories through the energetic Musikgarten curriculum,
God's Children Sing.
The Cherub Choir, W.O.W. Ensemble and Family Music classes are
by Wendy Russel who has over 10 years experience in early childhood
music and movement. She holds a Level 2 accreditation by the
ECMMA, Level 2 Orff Schulwerk certification and is a licensed
Musikgarten teacher.

Handbell Choirs
ASBURY RINGERS / Adult Bells
Rehearsals: Sundays at 3:30 PM in the
Bell Hall
This Group of Ringers is made up of adults that have graduated
from high school. They Ring about once a month in the services,
and play for other special occasions during the year. Membership
is acquired by attending regular rehearsals and services. For
more information, contact Cheryl Stumpff at Extension 116.
FIESTA RINGERS / Youth Bells
Rehearsals: Sundays at 4:30 PM in the
Bell Hall
This is the youth Hand Bell Choir Grades 6-12. They Ring in
Worship about once a month. They also tour yearly going places
like Disney World, The Crystal Cathedral and other great US locations.
Membership in this group can be obtained by attending regular
rehearsals and performances. For more information, contact Cheryl
